Permafrost School Day 8: Scientific Tracks in Camp 'Tonuochaan' and Geo-Monitoring
On Day 8 of the Permafrost School, students split into paleobotany, paleozoology, and geology research teams, learned GIS mapping, and established a new soil temperature monitoring point.
Permafrost School Day 9: Talent Show and Archaeological Discovery
A spectacular talent show by students and teachers brought Day 9 of the Permafrost School to life, alongside a fascinating archaeological find of a historic bone fragment.
Permafrost School Day 11: Archaeology, Sakha Culture, and NVK Television Filming
On Day 11 of the Permafrost School, the camp welcomed an archaeology group from NEFU and a lecture on Sakha culture, and received a visit from the NVK television crew who came to film a feature about the school.
Permafrost School Day 12: Excursion to the Verkhnevilyuysk Meteorological Station and Soil Profile Research
On Day 12, students visited the Verkhnevilyuysk meteorological station celebrating its 90th anniversary, learned about weather observation instruments and software, and conducted their own soil profiling experiment — obtaining 75 measurements of temperature and thermal conductivity at a depth of 120 cm.
